This is for us to know the number of participants, so we can prepare enough tools and materials. This is not for credit sign up.

In case you forgot to sign up, you can still show up to the workshop. If we are not totally full, we welcome everyone interested.

Workshops are held weekly on Wednesdays 14:00 – 17:00

April 22 – Introduction to physical computing projects → workshop page link

We will take some example projects and talk about what kind of technologies are behind, what are the process of developing these projects and how one can plan the schedule and materials for the developments. We will also discuss your project ideas and consult the planning process.

April 29 – Introduction to Programming: → workshop page link

In this workshop, we will introduce you the basic logic of programming and key syntax such as: variables, functions, data type, if functions, while function.. so on. The workshop aims to introduce the concept of programming that are applicable to Arduino, processing, java, c.. and other programming languages.

May 6 – Introduction to Processing

This workshop introduce you to the basic use of Processing (https://processing.org/).
prerequisite: Introduction to Programming or some experience in programming

May 13 – Introduction to Arduino (Actuator): → workshop page link

This workshop will introduce you to Arduino (http://arduino.cc/), focusing on controlling actuators (i.e. LED, motor, sound..) with Arduino board.
prerequisite: Introduction to Programming or some experience in programming

May 20 – Introduction to Arduino (Sensor): → workshop page link

This workshop will introduce you to Arduino (http://arduino.cc/), focusing on how to read sensor inputs with Arduino board.
prerequisite: Introduction to Programming or some experience in programming

May 27 – Introduction to eTextile: → workshop page link

In this workshop, we will explore the conductive textile materials which you can use as part of electronics circuit or to build sensors.

June 3 – Introduction to Soldering and Circuit board making: >> workshop page link

Soldering is always a tricky part of completing the electronics projects. We will practice how to solder basic protoboard circuit. Additionally we will tryout to mill the circuit board using CNC milling machine.

June 10 – Processing + Android: → workshop page link

In this workshop, we will connect Processing with an Android phone and develop a simple app that runs on your Android smart phone.
prerequisite: Introduction to Processing or some Processing experience

!!! BE AWARE !!!
eLab can only provide a maximum of two android tablets.
also: the main difficulty with Processing and Android is the configuration on your computer. so…

  1. you should bring your own computer, to set it up for working with android.
  2. if you have the possibility bring your own device. and…
  3. sign up via email and tell us if you have your own device or not

June 17 – Thermochromic ink printing: >> workshop page link

Thermochromic inks are special pigments that changes color at certain temperature. In this workshop you will be introduced to the basics of how the color change works and how you can mix the color to get the desired change. Hopefully we will work with silkscreen prints on textiles to experiment further on.

June 24 – Multi touch screen experiments:

In this workshop, we will explore what you can do with multi touch screen using Processing.
prerequisite: Introduction to Processing or some Processing experience

!!! BE AWARE !!!

if you want to take part in this workshop please make sure, to sign up via email, so we know how many people will attend.
there is only one multitouch table for the group of us, so we need to know how many people would like to attend.
